A few hi-res pics from Tarxien temple that clearly show the typical high tech megalithic neat & tight stonework along with the typical zero tech chaotic stone rubble that had been put on top and around the megalithic "base". This mix of styles could be seen all over the globe, especially in Peru. The pics are taken on 7/28/2023.

I was there last summer. The most interesting blocks to me were the ones with drilled holes that had clearly been made for doors to be fitted in.
But yeah, the stones that remain are the ones that couldn’t be moved by subsequent peoples, and the smaller stone built walls are much more modern creations (and in some cases made by the restorers who are trying to show what it *would* have looked like)
