BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) – A report of a possible explosion near Highway 50 and Wiedeville Road prompted a response from the Brenham Fire Department, but crews found no evidence of an explosion after arriving on scene.
According to a statement shared by BFD on social media, units were dispatched to the area near Hwy. 50 at Wiedeville Road following calls reporting a possible explosion. Fire officials said responders searched the area and did not locate signs of an explosion.
Multiple reports across southeast Texas quickly sparked widespread discussion online, with posts from surrounding areas. Some social media users reported witnessing a green flash falling from the sky, seeing black smoke, and hearing a loud “boom.”
Online accounts have suggested the incident may have involved a meteor, though officials have not confirmed what caused the reported flash or sound.
