WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Big news for Midwestern State University as it has been accepted for the second year in a row to participate in NASA’s SUITS competition.
This is the second year in a row that the school has applied and been accepted to compete in the Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students competition.
SUITS will have students focus on a simulation in which they help the lunar pressurized rover land on the Moon while also working on new space suit technology to support astronauts on the Artemis missions under the team name Team Selene.
MSU Texas President Dr. Stacia Haynie said this is just one of many programs that help spotlight the excellence in education MSU provides.
“I think it points to the strength of our STEM fields, specifically computer science,” said Haynie. “But also just how fabulous our students are. They’re creative, they’re bright and energetic. And they did such a great job. So it isn’t just that they’re being recognized. This is a platform for them to jump in terms of their professional career.”
Haynie said the students will head down to NASA in May. KFDX wishes Team Selene the best of luck in the competition.
