Time: Approximately 11:00 PM, 14 March
Location: Rural property south of Braidwood, NSW, Australia
Duration: About 30 minutes
Viewing Direction: South-west over Tallaganda State Park toward Jindenerry Nature Reserve
Conditions: Clear sky, calm night, no wind. No moon.
Observation:
While looking out a farmhouse window toward the south-west, multiple bright lights were observed rising from near the horizon. The lights appeared one at a time, though sometimes several appeared within short intervals. The lights were bright and yellow to reddish in colour.
Each light rose upward, increased in brightness, then turned toward the east before fading out completely. Brightness varied between the lights.
One light rose higher, appeared to turn toward the observer’s direction, and then faded.
The observer went outside into the paddock for a clearer view and watched the activity for approximately 30 minutes. No sound was heard and no aircraft navigation lights were visible.
Evidence:
A photograph of one light was taken using night-sight mode on a mobile phone. The cropped image shows it as an orb whilst the uncropped photo shows the stars in focus.
The light rose from between the two peaks in this photo but a fair way behind the mountain.
