The FBI has joined the search for the mysterious disappearance of William Neil McCasland, 68, a retired Air Force Commander tied to a base known for UFO research, recently declassified by the FBI.
McCasland, a long-time leader at Kirtland Air Force Base and former commander of the Phillips Research Site and Air Force Research Laboratory, vanished last Friday, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office in New Mexico. The FBI Albuquerque Field Office is now assisting in the search as it reaches day four, a spokesperson confirmed.

McCasland oversaw research at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base – the site of the military’s famed Project Blue Book centered on UFO research. The project was shut down in 1969 but remains rooted in UFO lore.
