Utica scored ten goals in back-to-back wins over the weekend. This post covers them.

Comets Win

Utica opened up its winning ways on Friday with a 5-3 victory over the Belleville Senators. Five different comets found the twine: Jack Malone, Shane LaChance, Kyle Criscuolo, Xavier Parent, and Angus Crookshank. Goaltender Nico Daws earned his 10th win of the season, stopping 23 of 26. Prospects Matyas Melovsky and Mikael Diotte earned assists.

The Comets completed the miniseries against Belleville with a 5-1 victory on Saturday led by Xavier Parent’s hattrick in the 2nd period. Defenseman Topias Vilen earned second star honors with three helpers and recently-returned-from injury Marc McLaughlin tallied a goal and an assist. Goaltender Jakub Malek shut the door in this one, stopping all but one of 28 shots.

Here’s a look at the final tally in the largely hattless hattrick for Parent.

Also, this weekend forward Brian Halonen hit a professional milestone.

The Comets would not stop breaking news on Monday as one of their own has been signed by the Devils to his ELC.

Melovsky has 3 goals, 10 assists in 35 games on the season and has recently moved up to center Utica’s top line. With the signing, the 21-year-old, former sixth round pick, will now be eligible to take the next step should an opportunity present itself with the trade deadline coming up.

Around the Pool:

Collegiate centerman Samu Salminen had quite the weekend for Denver.

As did Boston University netminder Mikhail Yegorov.

Lastly, for those who missed it with all the Olympics excitement, this is something you don’t see every day.
