The Cottey Comets season came to an end Thursday afternoon with a 70-44 loss to the Columbia College Cougars in the American Midwest Conference Tournament in Springfield, MO.
Entering as the No. 8 seed, the Comets hung with the top-seeded Cougars in the first half, but trailed 34-21 at halftime.
After the break, Columbia extended their lead to nearly 20 behind an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the frame.
Cottey continued to fight, but were simply outmatched by the Cougars as they pulled away with a 26-point fourth quarter. Cottey head coach Tim Eatman fellt his team played well despite the loss.
