U.S. Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo. 7th District, says he is glad President Donald Trump has ordered the release of all UFO files.

“In fact, I’ve been asking the White House for this to be done since Trump entered into office,” Burlison told Missourinet. “You know, he’s the disclosure president. He filed an executive order to disclose the files on the JFK assassination and other events.”

Burlison said he does not believe in the existence of extraterrestrial beings. In an interview with Missourinet in August 2023, Burlison said he doesn’t believe alien species have traveled to Earth, and that what witnesses at a congressional hearing testified to seeing were either “angels or manmade.”

“I’m not one that believes that there’s little green men from another planet, but I can’t deny the fact that there’s a lot of video evidence of objects that we have no idea what they are, but we know that they’re not us,” he said in an interview this month with Missourinet.

In 2025, Burlison showed video during another U.S. House committee hearing of a military drone failing to shoot down what he described as a UFO.

“You’re seeing what looks like an oval type object, then about halfway through the video, a missile comes from outside the frame, and I was told that’s from another drone that came, and then it made contact, but really didn’t do a whole lot to the oval shaped object and then kept going,” he said in a separate Missourinet interview in September 2025.

Burlison said the government belongs to the people and that it should not be holding secrets from them.

Meanwhile, Trump’s order is not a formal executive order and it does not specify if any documents revealing U.S. military capabilities would be exempted.
