There is a bit of flight traffic overhead as I live in the southern part of the city, but this seems a bit unusual. Specifically how it fades in and out.

Well I can’t say for certain, but I have seen satellite passes that looked like that – they’ll strengthen or ‘flare’ then fade out again.

Well I can’t say for certain, but I have seen satellite passes that looked like that – they’ll strengthen or ‘flare’ then fade out again.
Could be a tumbling satellite.
