Finding a Comet Igniter Arc Raiders is the first tough step in the new Weather Monitor System project added with the February patch. This new item comes from the new Comet Arc bot found across the maps.
As with many Projects in Arc Raiders, the first few steps are pretty simple. You probably don’t need a guide for them. However, the first real challenge comes when we need to find the Comet Igniter. This new resource is the “rare” drop from the new Comet Arc enemies added alongside the Firefly.
How to Find a Comet Igniter Arc Raiders
The location of the Comet Igniter is fairly simple: find a Comet, and destroy it. Loot the Comet Igniter and get out of the raid.
Sadly, these new rolling balls are not as easy to take out as the Surveyor bot that they look very similar to.
No, the Comet is very aggressive, and if it spots you will instantly try to blow you up. Similar to the Surveyor, however, Comet Arcs spawn outside in large open areas. This makes them unlike the other two smaller ground Arcs, the Pops and Fireballs that spawn inside.
Some good spots to look for these are on Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds. In Buried City, look for areas that are open, such as North of Plaza Rosa near the Santa Maria Houses or East of the Town Hall.
For Dam Battlegrounds, look near the Control Tower or The Swamp. On Blue Gate, look for them at Checkpoint and Village.
Spotting the new Comet Arc is fairly simple. They will have a large red light on top of them; this is especially easy to spot on night raids. Note that early in the patch release, these are going to be heavily farmed, so be careful. On our first two raids, we only found ones that had been destroyed or were mid-fight.
Fighting the Comet Arc
Fighting the Comet is a little like fighting a Leaper that can’t jump. When spotted, the Comet will wind up an attacked, roll quickly towards you before stopping to charge up the attack.
The sound is the same as the leaper when it charges up its AOE pulse attack, so run away, and fight from a distance. Like the Surveyor, the Comet is well armoured, so shoot the weakspots where the armour panel is exposed. This is easiest to do if you aim for the area between the two panels of the bot.
It’s also worth noting that the Comet Igniter Arc Raiders is a rare drop, so you won’t always see it. (Kind of like the Arc Raiders skin in the Finals) Comments in the Arc Raiders Discord seem to think this is a bug; however, we think it’s more likely to just be a rare drop. Just like you get with many of the harder-to-acquire Arc tech.
That said, players noted that when Comet’s die, they don’t always leave behind the same husk. Some see a metal ring, whereas others report seeing a core, so this may be what is actually bugged. From our testing, we got the Comet Igniter from one of these cores, so that might be what the bug is causing.
