The former Nigeria international admitted his side endured a difficult opening half, particularly in midfield, but credited the team’s determination and tactical adjustments for turning the contest around.

“We struggled from the midfield. I need to congratulate the boys because we struggled in the first half,” Amuneke said.

Reflecting on the broader picture, the Heartland boss emphasized that matches are defined by build-up and response, not just finishing moments.

“It’s not about where the ball ends, it’s about where it all started,” he noted, highlighting the importance of structure and transition play.

Amuneke revealed that introducing fresh legs after the break proved decisive as Heartland wrestled control and completed the comeback.

“We brought in fresh legs in the second half and were able to win. It’s not about being dominant throughout the whole game — the three points matter,” he added.

Acknowledging the quality of their opponents, Amuneke maintained that consistency remains the club’s objective this season.

“We played against a very good team. In this league, our objective is to do well and get maximum points. We will go back, correct our mistakes, and push forward for more victories.”

The win reinforces Heartland’s intent to remain competitive in a tightly contested campaign.
