The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) invites the community to journey across space and time in a special planetarium program, The James Webb SpaceTelescope Unlocked Universe, on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 7 to 8 PM at the Los Alamos Nature Center Planetarium.
This immersive show highlights the groundbreaking discoveries made by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which has transformed our understanding of galaxies, planets, and the early universe. From shimmering aurora on Jupiter to the most distant galaxies ever observed, Webb’s observations are rewriting astronomy textbooks and revealing mysteries scientists are only beginning to unravel.
Families, astronomy enthusiasts, and curious learners of all ages (8+) are invited to explore Webb’s most stunning images and learn about the science behind them. New family pricing makes this event more accessible than ever, offering an affordable way for households to experience the wonders of the cosmos together.

About the Program
This engaging, visually rich presentation will guide audiences through Webb’s most significant discoveries since launch. Attendees will learn how the telescope peers deeper into the universe than ever before, what its images reveal about the earliest galaxies, and how its instruments are helping scientists understand the atmospheres of distant worlds.
About the Presenter
Kelcey Davis is a physics PhD candidate and observational astrophysicist at the University of Connecticut. She began her doctoral work just months after Webb’s launch and contributed to the science team behind Webb’s first deep field image as part of the Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science Survey (CEERS).
Kelcey was recently awarded 60 hours of Webb observing time for her own program, Star formation from Photometry through the Addition of Medium-bands (SPAM), which investigates how galaxies at cosmic dawn formed their stars.
