LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – The Laredo Animal Protective Society (LAPS) featured an eight-month-old Labrador mix named Comet during this week’s Pet of the Week segment.
Amber Villarreal with LAPS said Comet is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She also receives flea and heartworm preventative care.
“She does really well with kids and with other dogs. We believe she would do well in a home, also where they may have cats,” Villarreal said. “She is just one of the many dogs that we have at the shelter that are looking for a forever home.”
Villarreal said Comet is social and energetic, measuring approximately four feet in length. She is expected to grow into a medium-sized breed.
“We want her to go to a family that has that time and energy for her,” Villarreal said. “Considering that she is only eight months old, she still has a lot to grow and so much time for anybody who can give her the time that they have at home.”
Upcoming adoption events
LAPS will host an adoption event on Saturday, February 21, at PetSmart on International Blvd. from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature adoptable dogs and an information table.
The organization is also participating in a “spaghetti, no meatballs” fundraising event with Clementine’s Kitchen on February 24 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $25 each and are available at LAPS, Puppy Palace and PetSmart.
