In statement on X on Sunday, the billionaire said his company SpaceX has now shifted its priorities to building “a self-growing city on the Moon,” arguing that it could be achieved in less than a decade, compared with more than 20 years for a similar plan on Mars.

  2. It always seemed obvious to me that building a settlement on the Moon would happen long before going to Mars. The logistics to Mars are terrible and no room for error.

I really get annoyed by his constantly setting unattainable goals and then never following through…

But I think space exploration is amazing so I’ll give credit if they actually accomplish something.

Why is this goofy ass mf trying to live out his fantasies w his money and wasting money, he was never going to colonise mars, and he’s not going to colonise the moon. A private company owned by a guy who felt left out coz he couldn’t go the island, shouldn’t have the power to colonise mars or the moon.

  5. He should have always aimed for the moon first. It would give them a great place to test and develop the technologies we’d need to live on Mars. It also has a much shorter travel time so you can actually troubleshoot, whether remotely or in-person.

Musk is dialing back on his earlier promises?! I’m SHOCKED; this has never happened before!

  7. Honestly, I’d rather he clip himself while on one of his ‘ketamine superpower’ binges.

  8. That’s a shame. I was really looking forward to him heading off to Mars. I guess the moon will have to suffice.

  9. He’s pivoting to the moon right before NASA launches Artemis so he can spin their success as his own and all part of his brilliant tony stark big brain plans.

  10. One year ago this clown said we could rebuild the entire infrastructure of Earth on Mars and have a million people living there within 20 years lmao

  11. Musk could barely get on the island, I don’t know why you think he could get to the moon or mars.

He’ll probably have to settle for a walk-up in the Bronx by the time this is all over.

  13. Wait, are you suggesting the guy that notoriously lied and oversold his claims over, and over, and over. ended up overselling himself again? I am so shocked lol.

2 years from now – “SpaceX is going to build a space station in leo, a self building station”

  15. This is so sad. I was very much looking forward to seeing him on Mars, and not on earth.

  16. Space travel can never go anywhere with the current state of the world. Private companies also won’t succeed.

  17. Has he got Full Self Driving working on his cars yet? Maybe finish at least one project before starting others.

  18. People need to realize there is no money to be made by going to Mars. Its an extremely high risk thing to do that will likely end with everyone dead and no money to be made. It will.probably never happen.

  19. “Musk, who previously set his sights on a moon base, has scaled back his ambitions to putting the remaining cyber truck unsold stock into orbit. Tesla Stock surged on the announcement, which coincided with record low sales of 50 model S second hand models.

This after last week’s news of the first mass killing by a Tesla robot, which sent Tesla stock to a record high.”

  20. Shifting priorities from a thing they were not going to do to a thing they are also not going to do.

  21. The notion of terraforming a dusty rock (Mars) instead of working to repair the planet we live on is astounding hubris. If you think about it for more than 5 seconds the entire thing just falls apart. I just watched a video where they said “well actually you’d live underground on Mars”, as if that would be a positive?
