It always seemed obvious to me that building a settlement on the Moon would happen long before going to Mars. The logistics to Mars are terrible and no room for error.

He should have always aimed for the moon first. It would give them a great place to test and develop the technologies we’d need to live on Mars. It also has a much shorter travel time so you can actually troubleshoot, whether remotely or in-person.

The notion of terraforming a dusty rock (Mars) instead of working to repair the planet we live on is astounding hubris. If you think about it for more than 5 seconds the entire thing just falls apart. I just watched a video where they said “well actually you’d live underground on Mars”, as if that would be a positive?
