  1. Most likely it said hello the day before yesterday since it takes almost 24 hours for the signal to get to Earth.

  2. Range 25433.264760 Mkm – Can they really be that accurate? That last “0” is accuracy of the order of 1km

    That range formatting annoys me too… 25,4 thousand mega-kilo-meters = 25,4 kilo mega kilo-meters = 25,4 mega mega meters = 25,4 Terameters. Perhaps 25,4 x 10^(12) meters would be better?

  3. Everytime I read something about the Voyagers, I can’t help myself and feel just astonished. Show me another piece of complex electronic device working after 50 years with zero maintenance, let alone in deep space. I wonder how long it could last, if it wasn’t limited by it’s power source.
