Wow, I can’t believe the Old Kingdom was using the WGS-84 standard based on the meter which was defined in the 1790s by the French National Assembly!
I’d have figured they would have used a cubit-based system, seeing as they used cubits for measurement everywhere else.

Choosing any specific reference frame is fairly arbitrary. No reason to suspect the Egyptians would choose the one we did.
