(WDBJ) – January 25, 2004:

NASA’s Opportunity rover landed on Mars and sent its first pictures of the planet to Earth.

The mission was originally planned for 90 days, but the rover remained operational for over 15 years — travelling a total of 28 miles across the planet’s surface.

Gray Media, parent company of WDBJ7, is celebrating the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States of America with a year-long look at our country called “We the People”.
