The COMET will implement bus route and schedule changes across the Midlands beginning Jan. 25, 2026. Here’s what to know.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The COMET will implement service adjustments across multiple bus routes beginning Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, as part of an ongoing effort to improve reliability and efficiency.

According to the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority, the January service changes include the removal of time points, frequency changes, schedule adjustments and route modifications affecting numerous routes systemwide.

Time Points Removed: Time points will be removed from Routes 4, 11, 12, 21, 22, 32, 42, 45, 57, 61, 75, 77, 83, 88, 96, 101, 301, 401, and 801.

Frequency Changes: Service frequency will be adjusted on Routes 22, 57, 61, 88, and 96.

Schedule Adjustments: Schedule modifications will be made to Routes 4, 6, 44, 75, 88, 91, 92, 96, 301, 401, and 501.

Route 21 inbound service will operate via Crowson super stop – Garners Ferry – Pelham Dr. – Gills Creek Pkwy – Rosewood and continue regular route. Outbound service will not change.

Route 45 will no longer operate via Pelham Dr./Gills Creek Pkwy. Route 45 will operate to/from Crowson super stop via Garners Ferry.

Route 57L will only serve Walmart in the outbound direction. It will not serve the Walmart once it leaves Midlands Tech College-Northeast.

Riders are encouraged to review updated schedules and route information prior to January 25, 2026. New route guidebooks will be available at COMET Central and at area distribution points.
