The Greenville Lady Comets played twice Friday in the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Winterfest Classic.

They were defeated by second-seeded Father McGivney 54-30, then were edged by Johnston City 44-42.

GHS trailed only 13-12 after the first quarter against Father McGivney, but it was a nine point margin for Father McGivney at halftime.  The Lady Comets were outscored by 10 points in the third frame.

Top scorers in the game for Greenville High were Melanie Mills with 12 points and Ella Kleiner with eight.

In the game against Johnston City, the Lady Comets fell behind 12-5 in the opening stanza then posted 20 points in the second quarter to tie the game at halftime.

It remained close in the second half.  The score was 33-33 going into the final quarter.

Johnston City outscored GHS 10-5 at the free throw line for the game.

Haylee Clark posted 15 points for the Lady Comets.  Mills, Kleiner and Emma Veith had seven apiece.

The Greenville High School girls play again at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Winterfest.
