you know how people are dismissive of the disclosure and high strangeness topic. A lot of people respond with "so what? I still have to go to work tomorrow." What kind of high strangeness event do you think would profoundly impact everyone and stop people from going to work.
It has to be more than just official announcement that aliens exist and governments have alien tech.

  1. Unless physical infrastructure or specific capabilities (e.g agriculture) are destroyed, the world needs to keep turning and people still need to eat. Disclosure ain’t changing shit.

Nothing short of physical presence preventing people from working. As exciting as establishing contact with aliens would be, my rent isn’t gonna go down because of it.

*alien invasion happens – full rupture mode*

my boss: “*you’re coming in tomorrow?*”

  5. Whatever it is. All the world’s governments will make sure you don’t know anything, so you don’t stop working.

I mean, unless it’s a literal catastrophe, the need to press on with our lives will go on.

People work during wars, famine, fires, etc. we will likely actually cling to our normal lives tighter than people would anticipate

Global transcendence would totally wreck the economy so disclosure cannot happen. They will fight to the end of their lives to keep everyone from nirvana

  8. I used to think first contact, now I think even if that happens a bunch of idiots will argue it isn’t happening to avoid disrupting the economy, so likely nothing.

Realizing that Earth is a prison for souls and your free will is an illusion. Or similarly that Earth is a farm for souls.

  10. I’m going to tell you all something. If you think an alien presence will make your bill collectors and mortgage companies halt charging you, you guys are greatly mistaken. As soon as the aliens leave, this companies will come repo and collect on all that you owe. Those greedy fucks will have zero compassion.

I think many (if not most) people will only stop going to work if there were no jobs. People have been programed to think jobs are normal.

  12. Unless there is a collapse of infrastructure, or society in general, there is going to me a landlord or mortgage company ready to take my house if I don’t pay. The stores won’t give me food if I don’t have money to pay. I can’t heat of cool my house. Probably half the US population is lacking the skills to even cook a simple meal without a stove.

Failure to go to work for many people is a loss of everything they have. A few UFOs buzzing through the sky, or a news announcement about little green men taking over won’t save my house or put food on the table. What external, non-personal event is worth losing my house, and livelihood?

If aliens gave us all little machines that provided us with whatever we needed or wanted..
