As stated in the title, this occurred in 2004. At this same time in the region the Indian army witnessed many strange orbs, though this is a separate post in itself. A very interesting occurrence. The witnesses are sober minded professionals.
“There is still no explanation, however, for what is believed to be the clearest UFO sighting yet, in the Lahaul-Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh less than 100 km south of Ladakh in 2004. A five-member group of geologists and glaciologists led by Dr Anil Kulkarni of the ISRO’s Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad were on a research trip through the barren Samudra Tapu Valley. They filmed a fourfoot tall robot-like figure, that walked along the valley, 50 m away from them. The humanoid object then rapidly became airborne and disappeared. The encounter lasted 40 minutes.”

Looks pretty similar to some of the pictures coming out of Peru. No idea what to make of any of those, but it’s interesting.
Edit. This tweet has some of the pictures I’m talking about in it. I’m sure more pictures are available somewhere, but I didn’t feel like looking forever. https://x.com/omapproach/status/1712183384112263404?s=46&t=KuRjPDFWI0yoyV8U43_g8Q
Looks like nothing.
It looks more like a sensor error or some other artifact than anything else
Also why does every jabroni have to claim “clearest ufo sighting yet” “most documented sighting”
This is the clearest sighting yet? Wtf are you sighting it’s a white squiggle
This looks like the same object as some law enforcement/military infrared video I saw a while ago. The object reminds me of a probe droid.
Your quote says they filmed it. Do you know of any video or just this still?
Is that not a plume of white smoke?

I’m pretty sure this is a camera artefact.
