When I was a kid, I used to be fascinated by this one star because it was the brightest among all the stars I could see.
Each night, I would gaze at it through my window while lying in bed until I dozed off.
Many years later, one night as I sat on my balcony sipping a cup of coffee, my eyes caught sight of the same star. In that moment, I was instantly transported back to my childhood days.
The very next moment, I decided to figure out exactly which star I was looking at. So I started investigating and learned that its name is Menkar, from the constellation Cetus.
I was thrilled to finally know the identity of my favorite star, until today, when I was walking on my terrace at night and spotted it again. My curiosity surged once more, so I downloaded an app called SkyView Lite from the App Store (not sponsored). It basically tells you which celestial body you’re looking at if you point your camera toward it. To my surprise, it turned out to be Jupiter. ðŸ˜
I felt so stupid after that. I was like, how come I didn’t know it’s literally a planet in our solar system, and that too the biggest one? ðŸ˜
But hey, everybody stars somewhere (pun intended). At least I still have the enthusiasm to explore different celestial bodies.
It’s still my favourite star tho
