The Greenville Lady Comets faced Alton Marquette Saturday morning in the seventh place game of the Columbia Tip-Off Classic.
The Lady Explorers won the contest 48-36.
The Lady Comets never led, but were able to battle back a couple of times to make it close.
After trailing by five at the end of one quarter, GHS got to within one point early in the second quarter, then was behind 28-20 at halftime.
The Marquette lead ballooned to 13 points during the third frame, but the GHS girls kept battling. The score was 36-32 with 6:40 left to play, but the Lady Comets could get no closer.
Three Lady Comets scored in double figures. Emma Veith posted 13 points, Haylee Clark scored 11 and Ella Kleiner had 10.
Clark was named to the all-tournament team and was presented a medal.
The next game for the GHS girls is Tuesday at Brownstown.
