A recent study found two voids behind granite casing on the east side of the pyramid of Menkaure. The known entrance is on the north side and this could potentially represent another entrance, although almost nothing is known besides the existence of the voids. How far these voids extend into the pyramid is uncertain.
Significantly, the voids appear in a smoothed section of the granite casing. Most of the stones nearby were left unfinished but the rectangular section here was smoothed down, similar to the masonry around the entrance to the pyramid.
This is part of the ongoing ScanPyramids project which has found voids in the Great Pyramid as well.
