Noah Hawley’s take on the iconic Xenomorph franchise is just getting started.

That’s because Alien: Earth has officially been renewed for a second season at FX. Production is expected to kick off in London sometime in 2026, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In addition, Hawley—whose previous television credits include The Unusuals, Legion, and Fargo—has also inked a lucrative, multi-year production deal at FX and Disney Entertainment Television.

“It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future,” FX chairman John Landgraf said in a Nov. 11 statement provided to THR. “Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories—and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can’t wait to get to work on the next season of Alien: Earth, as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development.”

“I’m thrilled that this expanded deal opens the door to new opportunities across all of Disney Entertainment Television,” added Hawley. “FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”

Is Alien: Earth getting a second season?

Yes—it is! Indeed, Alien: Earth could potentially run for multiple seasons, now that series creator, showrunner, and executive producer Noah Hawley has signed an overall creative deal with FX.

Set two years before the disastrous events aboard the Nostromo, the show centers around a heated arms race between the world’s most powerful corporations: Weyland-Yutani and Prodigy.

The latter company, run by obnoxiously arrogant Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin), manages to get its hands on a number of dangerous alien specimens—including the dreaded Xenomorph—while simultaneously testing out an experimental technology that places human minds into synthetic bodies. As expected, hubris and greed lead to horrific consequences.

Sydney Chandler (daughter of Friday Night Lights’ Kyle Chandler), Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, and Babou Ceesay are among the main cast members.

Hawley is an executive producer on Alien: Earth alongside Ridley Scott (director of 1979’s Alien), David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, John Campisi, and Simon Emanuel.
