This week’s TUBIN Tuesday takes us to Egypt, where the Nile River winds like a green ribbon through the golden desert. Captured by TUBIN on 20 February 2025, this image shows the stunning contrast between fertile farmland and the surrounding arid terrain.

In the center of the image, on the righthand side of the river, lies Luxor, once the ancient city of Thebes home to temples, tombs, and thousands of years of history. Even from orbit, it’s easy to see why the Nile has been Egypt’s lifeline for millennia.

From TUBIN’s perspective, the story of civilization is written in green: a narrow strip of life sustained by one river cutting through an ocean of sand.
