BROCKWAY, Pa. (EYT) — Girl Scout Troop 26444 of Brockway recently combined science with creativity in a hands-on space exploration event, fulfilling the Girl Scouts’ mission to spark curiosity in STEM fields.
The troop, composed of Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies, delved into space science at their last meeting. They studied constellations and learned how early stargazers used the night sky for navigation and entertainment.
The girls then applied their knowledge with a variety of engaging, hands-on activities, including:
Crafting their own constellation viewers.
Successfully naming all eight planets in correct order.
Mining for real gemstones.
The troop is co-led by Diane Gibes and Amanda Tudor.
