Or – and hear me out – a guy called Richard Parker really wanted to try longpig and orchestrated the whole “shipwreck” thing and it’s similarity to Poes work, as a cover story to do so.

In fact, let’s add another layer – his name wasn’t even Richard Parker, but he changed it to that to make his backstory even more believable.
