Hi, thanks for your contribution. It looks like you’ve included your submission statement directly in your post, which is fine, but it is too short (min 150 chars).

You can either edit your post’s text to >150 chars, or include a comment-based ss instead (which I would post shortly, if it meets submission statement requirements).

Seems like this is a Starlink launch. I had not seen this before today.

This looks very much like a space x rocket launch, like here: [https://imgur.com/gallery/space-x-falcon-9-w7OcvHi](https://imgur.com/gallery/space-x-falcon-9-w7OcvHi)

There was a launch just now, [https://www.spacelaunchschedule.com/launch/falcon-9-block-5-starlink-group-10-2/](https://www.spacelaunchschedule.com/launch/falcon-9-block-5-starlink-group-10-2/)

Here is a video showing it’s trajectory: [https://streamable.com/k61f50](https://streamable.com/k61f50)

It took off from Florida and I have paused it when it was over Europe. Notice the time at 18.40 (GMT+1, my local timezone). Also notice that it carries on around the earth, but the trajectory line stops after 1 orbit. If you follow the line, it appears to pass again somewhere over southern Europe. Objects in low earth orbit take approximately 90 minutes to circle the earth. It went over once at 18.40 (GMT+1) so 90 minutes after that will be about 20.10 (GMT+1). Malta is in GMT+2 timezone so would be approximately 21.10.

So the time and location matches this launch. What I believe you are actually seeing is the de-orbit burn to bring the final stage back into the atmosphere after releasing its payload of satellites. I don’t know exactly what the second line is, it is weird but obviously something to do with the rocket, maybe it is the satellites.
