Following the successes of Alien: Romulus and Alien: Earth, 20th Century Studios is looking to continue the franchise theatrically with a new movie, with No One Will Save You and Whalefall director Brian Duffield penning the script.
This news was first broken by TheInSneider on The Hot Mic podcast, though DanielRPK has since corroborated this information.
Duffield is in post-production on his latest feature, Whalefall, which sees a scuba diver (Austin Abrams) get swallowed by a whale and how he must escape the depths of its stomach. Before Whalefall, Duffield made waves for his unique Hulu original No One Will Save You, which followed an alien home invasion without any spoken dialogue.

Duffield has also had experience in the Alien-Predator franchise, having provided additional literary material for last year’s Predator: Badlands, which coincidentally is the most connective film to the Alien lore since the Alien vs Predator duology, heavily featuring Weyland-Yutani androids in the film.
20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell commented on the news on Twitter, asking who Duffield is, obviously joking due to their past collaborations proving he knows who he is, teasing fans.
Also currently in development at the studio are Alien: Earth Season 2, which is currently underway at Pinewood Studios in London, whilst a sequel to Alien: Romulus is searching for a director, and rumours continue to circulate about Ridley Scott returning to direct an instalment in the franchise.
