Hi everyone I am 17yo and really into Astronomy. I have built this telescope on my own and would love to hear your feedback on this.

This is reflecting telescope containing a 10in primary mirror which was a glass slab before I started working on it. I had to grind it to give it that spherical shape, parabolized it and then coated it with aluminium in a vacuum chamber. I also built the tube and Dobsonian mount on my own. The entire process took about 2 weeks and I dedicated every hour to it since this was done during my summer break.

It couldn’t have been possible without the help of Mr. Ajay Talwar, a renowned astrophotographer who my physics teacher put me in touch with.

The image of the Orion Nebula is taken using a Samsung Z Flip 4 mounted on to the telescope. This is an unstacked and unedited 2 second exposure and I did not use any tracking mechanism. I took this shot from Dehradun, India.

Fun fact – It took about 1 gram of aluminium to coat the entire mirror and the interiors of the vacuum chamber.
