The COMET will offer free fixed-route bus and DART services on Tuesday, June 9, to help residents travel to and from polling locations during the primary election.

Comet officials say the service is designed to improve access to voting by eliminating transportation barriers for residents.

“We realize how important it is for people to have access to the political process and The COMET wants to ensure that transportation is available to help those needing a ride to the polls,” said Maurice Pearl, Executive Director/CEO of The COMET. “Voting is an essential activity that provides citizens with an equal opportunity to let their voices be heard. Having a reliable way to get to the polls is the first step in that process.”

Riders can plan their trips using The COMET’s website or mobile app.

Older adults and people with disabilities can call 803.255.7123 for DART services and must indicate they are traveling to vote.

“The COMET has a long history of ensuring that people needing transportation to the polls are able to get it by using our services,” said Allison Terracio, Chair of The COMET Board of Directors. “We are happy to provide this complimentary transportation service during the election season for the people we serve in the Midlands.”

Voters can verify their registration information by visiting scvotes.gov.
