You can catch the COMET to almost anywhere — work, to school, to the store or, on June 9, to the polls.
For years, the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) has helped riders exercise their right to vote, and this year’s primaries are no exception. The COMET fixed route buses and DART services will be free for those going to vote in the primaries to be held on Tuesday, June 9.
“We realize how important it is for people to have access to the political process and The COMET wants to ensure that transportation is available to help those needing a ride to the polls,” said Maurice Pearl, Executive Director and CEO of The COMET. “Voting is an essential activity that provides citizens with an equal opportunity to let their voices be heard. Having a reliable way to get to the polls is the first step in that process.”
Riders can plan their trip by downloading and using the Transit App or by using the trip planner on The COMET’s website.
“The COMET has a long history of ensuring that people needing transportation to the polls are able to get it by using our services,” said Allison Terracio, Chair of The COMET Board of Directors. “We are happy to provide this complimentary transportation service during the election season for the people we serve in the Midlands.”
