Greenville High School recognized athletes and handed out several special honors during the 2026 Comets Track and Field Awards Banquet. Coach Lee Coakley also noted that Gavin File has qualified for the IHSA State Finals in the 110-meter high hurdles and will compete next week.
Among the major award winners, for the boys, Bradley Jones was named Most Improved in Track, while Lincoln O’Dell earned Most Improved in Field honors after recording six personal records in discus with a 42-and-a-half foot improvement. Serenity Mossman and Kylie Townzen received the girls’ Most Improved awards.
JJ Brown and Megan Weidemann received the Up & Comer Awards. Speedster Awards went to Isaiah Matthews and Gavin File for the boys and Megan Weidemann and Trinley Cale for the girls. Wynn Wilson and Serenity Mossman earned Enduro Awards, while Eli Neely and Kylie Townzen received Springs and Wings honors.
Lincoln O’Dell and Milan Hustedde were recognized with the Strongman/woman Awards. Sean Busch and Brooklyn Cross earned Team Spirit honors, while Eli Neely and Milan Hustedde were named Shining Star recipients. The top Big Blue Awards went to Gavin File and Trinley Cale.
Coach Coakley also recognized Nate Jennings, Caleb Hibbs and Porter Mewes with the “Light the Way” honor.
