In a high-scoring affair, the Ravensburg Razorbacks (2-0) overwhelmed the Allgäu Comets (0-2) with a decisive 65-20 victory at TeleData Stadium. The game showcased the Razorbacks‘ explosive offense and solid defense, thrilling the 1,213 fans in attendance.
Fast-paced start
The Comets came out swinging, showing aggression from the outset. They attempted a fourth down conversion on their opening drive but were thwarted by the Razorbacks‘ defense. However, Ravensburg quickly responded as quarterback Broghean McGovern connected with William Enneking for a touchdown, putting the home team up 7-0. The Comets fought back, with quarterback Brad Jones finding Leon Knoop for a touchdown, narrowing the score to 14-6 after a blocked extra point.
Razorbacks take control
As the game progressed, the Razorbacks found their rhythm. McGovern threw a touchdown pass to Anthony Harris Jr., extending the lead to 21-6. The Razorbacks‘ defense stepped up, with Ben Rashid intercepting a pass and setting up another touchdown run by Lennies McFerren, making it 28-6. Despite the Comets‘ efforts, including a touchdown from Martin Horn, the Razorbacks continued to dominate, scoring again before halftime to lead 41-12.
Second half surge
The second half saw the Razorbacks maintain their momentum. McGovern connected with Aniel Busse for another touchdown, pushing the score to 48-12. Aniel Busse capped off the scoring with a field goal, bringing the final score to 65-20.
Despite the loss, the Comets showed flashes of potential, with Jones throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns.
