It was a tough day on Saturday for the Greenville Lady Comets softball squad as it lost two close contests.

The first game went 11 innings and ended with Salem getting a 5-4 decision. With the score tied at three in the seventh, GHS had runners at second and third with one out, but couldn’t post the winning run.

Kaitlyn Lurkins smacked a two-run homer for the Lady Comets.  Zoee  Englert, Clare Glisson and Paige Knebel had two hits apiece.

Pitchers Ava Potthast and Payton White combined for 11 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Lady Comets were clipped by Carlyle 3-1.

Jana Glisson and Potthast picked up two hits each, while Lurkins, Clare Glisson and Emma Bingham also hit safely.

Lurkins handled the pitching duties, recording five strikeouts in the game.
