Where: Lan Su Chinese Garden, 239 NW Everett St., Portland
What’s going on: Lan Su Chinese Garden is celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with cultural performances, traditional attire exhibits, art installations, cooking demonstrations and family activities throughout May and June. The programming, created in partnership with more than 20 local organizations and artists, also includes Cultural Immersion Saturdays, a free admission day, an Inner Mongolia Art Theatre performance and a benefit screening of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” at the Hollywood Theatre.

What’s going on: Believers, skeptics and the simply curious are set to gather in McMinnville this weekend for the annual McMenamins UFO Festival, a two-day celebration featuring speaker presentations, a downtown parade, live music, vendor booths, trivia and costume contests. KGW’s own Jeremy Scott will record a live episode of “Into the Parabnormal” at 10 a.m. Friday at Hotel Oregon. The festival, inspired by the famous 1950 Trent UFO photographs taken near McMinnville, also includes an Alien Costume Ball and appearances from podcasters, researchers and authors discussing unidentified aerial phenomena. Many events are free, while tickets are required for speaker presentations at the McMinnville Community Center.

Oregon Tradeswomen Career Fair
When: May 15-16
Where: Portland Expo Center, 2025 N Expo Road, Portland
What’s going on: Job seekers, students and anyone curious about hands-on careers can explore the skilled trades this weekend at the free Oregon Tradeswomen Career Fair, returning Friday and Saturday with interactive exhibits, apprenticeship information and dozens of employers and training programs from across the region. The event highlights debt-free career pathways in industries ranging from construction and engineering to transportation, utilities and public service, with live demonstrations and pre-apprenticeship information sessions offered throughout both days. Friday is reserved for registered school groups, while Saturday is open to the public with no registration required.

19th Annual Mt. Tabor Art Walk
When: May 16-17, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Mt. Tabor Park, Southeast 60th & Salmon, Portland
What’s going on: Art lovers can wander Southeast Portland’s tree-lined streets this weekend during the 19th annual Mt. Tabor Art Walk, a self-guided showcase featuring local artists opening their home studios, gardens and community spaces to the public. The juried event highlights a wide range of visual arts, including ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, painting, photography and mixed media, while offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at artists’ creative processes and workspaces. The springtime stroll through the Mt. Tabor neighborhood has grown into a popular annual tradition since launching in 2006.

Portland Bangers FC vs. Snohomish United Home Opener
When: May 16, 7 p.m.
Where: Lents Park, 4808 Southeast 92nd Avenue, Portland
What’s going on: The Portland Bangers FC kick off their home schedule Saturday night at Lents Park with a matchup against Snohomish United, bringing their blend of soccer, fan festivities and sausage-themed fun back to Southeast Portland. Gates open at 6 p.m. ahead of the 7 p.m. match, with food, drinks and promotions planned throughout the evening, including tattoo sign-ups from Anatomy Tattoo. What’s going on: Rosé season arrives in full color this weekend as the fifth annual Pink! Rosé Festival returns to Hillsboro Ballpark with pours from more than two dozen Tualatin Valley wineries. The 21-and-over event features rosés, white wines and orange wines from regional producers, along with local food vendors, music and views overlooking the ballpark infield. General admission and VIP tickets include tasting tokens, a commemorative wine glass and cheese-and-charcuterie pairings, with additional food and drinks available for purchase.

What’s going on: Portland Saturday Market welcomes visitors to browse handmade goods from regional vendors in the heart of Old Town.
