"Built in 1879 as a private palace, Château Clément in Vals-les-Bains became one of France's most elegant residences. But during the Nazi occupation in 1940, it was turned into an internment prison.

Among those imprisoned there: Vincent Auriol, who later became President of France, and Marcel Dassault, the aviation pioneer whose aircraft still fly today.

Has anyone here visited this château? The official tourist guides barely mention this dark chapter of its history."
