In an emotional Facebook post shared Thursday, the owners of Alien Cow Flavored Sno revealed that a fundraising campaign launched to help save and grow their business has not yet gained the momentum they had hoped for.
“Good morning. We want to be real with y’all,” the post began. “The GoFundMe hasn’t taken off the way we hoped, and it’s been tough on our hearts.”
Despite the disappointment, owners Rob and Ericka Bungert told supporters they are still pushing forward.
“But we’re still here, still fighting, still grateful for every single person who has shown up for us and continues to believe in Alien Cow,” the couple wrote.
The shop, which is located at 2033 Old Hwy. 52 in Moncks Corner, announced it would remain open Fridays through Sundays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., adding that “even a share or a visit means more than you know.”
Business Born From a Cancer Battle
The story behind Alien Cow Flavored Sno has resonated deeply across the Lowcountry — not just because of the colorful frozen treats, but because of the personal struggle that inspired the business itself.
According to the GoFundMe campaign created by local entrepreneur Megan Brown, the business was born during Rob Bungert’s battle with cancer.
Brown explained that chemotherapy and radiation treatments severely damaged Rob’s throat and esophagus, making eating painful. Traditional ice cream became difficult to tolerate, but sno cream provided relief.
“What started as a personal necessity turned into something much bigger,” Brown wrote, describing the business as one built from “comfort, relief, and a small moment of joy.”
She described Alien Cow as more than a dessert shop, calling it “a reminder that even in the hardest seasons, something good can be created.”

‘They’re Not Failing — They’re One Step Away From Thriving’
Brown’s message emphasized that the business is not collapsing because of a lack of community support or customer interest. Instead, she said the shop’s current location has limited its visibility and ability to grow.
“They’re not failing — they’re just one step away from thriving,” Brown wrote.
According to the fundraiser, Rob and Ericka hope to relocate to a better location that would allow them to expand their menu, increase foot traffic, and create a more sustainable future for the business.
Brown said the couple has invested everything they have into Alien Cow, including their finances, time, and energy, while simultaneously navigating health challenges and the pressures of small business ownership.

A Loyal Following and Multiple Awards
Even amid financial struggles, Alien Cow Flavored Sno has built a loyal following throughout Berkeley County and beyond.
The GoFundMe notes the business has earned six awards in just two years and has been named a finalist three additional times in competitions including Charleston’s Choice, Guide to South Carolina, and Best of Berkeley County.
“This isn’t a struggling business… people LOVE it,” Brown wrote.
“The demand is there. The love is there. The impact is undeniable.”
Community Support Becomes Critical
Brown said she launched the fundraiser after seeing the couple’s vulnerable social media posts about potentially closing their doors.
“The hard ones. The honest ones. The ones most business owners are too afraid to share,” she wrote.
She described the current moment as a crossroads for the family and the business.
“This isn’t the end of their story — it’s the turning point,” Brown wrote.
As the GoFundMe continues, supporters are being encouraged to donate, share the fundraiser, and continue supporting the business in person.
“For some,” Brown wrote, “Alien Cow Flavored Sno is even more than a business — it’s proof that resilience can still create something beautiful.”
