Mercy Mounthawk has won the national final of a European Space Agency (ESA) competition.
The team was the only one from Kerry among the six national finalists at the ESERO-Ireland CanSat competition in county Laois this week.
The team consisted of five transition year students: Culann Dowling, Rory Lally, Torran Miller, Jake O’Reilly and Conan Seino.
Under the supervision of their teacher Wayne Hayes, they designed, built and launched their own mini-satellite.
They will travel to the European Space Agency (ESA)’s European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in the Netherlands in June (17-19).
There they will partake in the international ‘Space Engineer for a Day’ event.
