The Greenville Lady Comets softball team travelled to Staunton Thursday and returned home with a 12-2 five-inning victory.

Ava Potthast earned the pitching win, striking out six batters. 

The GHS bats were hot with Emma Bingham, Kaitlyn Lurkins, Zoee Englert and Potthast picking up three hits apiece,  Other base hits were by Payton White, Clare Glisson, Paige Knebel and Jana Glisson.

On Wednesday, the Lady Comets were defeated 5-2 at Mt. Vernon.

Coach Steve Dannaman said his team jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then the bats went cold.  Bingham had two hits in the game, while Haylee Clark and Lurkins having one each.

White was the starting pitcher and struck out nine.  Lurkins pitched in relief, and had two strikeouts.
