
JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Clayton High School captured the Johnston County Easter Baseball Tournament title, finishing a three-game run with a decisive win over host South Johnston.
The tournament, held April 4–7, featured several local teams and was played at South Johnston High School.
The Clayton Comets opened the tournament with a 10-0 win over North Johnston, setting the tone for the rest of its run. The Comets followed with a 2-0 victory against Greenfield in a pitchers’ duel, relying on strong defense and timely hitting to advance to the championship game.

In the final, Clayton defeated South Johnston 14-1 to secure the tournament championship.
Several Clayton players were recognized for their performances. Parker Kilpatrick, Grant Buchanan, Gabe Schellinger and Davis Duty were named to the all-tournament team. Jackson Clinard was named the tournament’s most valuable player after his performance on the mound against Greenfield.
