President Trump’s promise to release all federal files on UFOs may be coming to fruition after a government-linked website rumored to be part of the plans showed signs of life.
The federal domain aliens.gov, which previously appeared inactive, is now returning an SSL error, a technical signal that the address may be connected to a live server but has not yet been set up for public access.
An SSL error usually occurs when a server is configured without the necessary digital certificate to establish a secure connection.
This indicates that the domain is no longer inactive and may be under development, even if no visible content has been released, the Daily Mail reports.
However, cybersecurity experts explain that the changes are normal during website setup and don’t necessarily indicate the launch of a public site, the outlet stated.

Government agencies often register and configure domains months or even years before launching new websites. They frequently use these domains first for internal testing, staging environments, or placeholder systems.
The U.S. government registered the domain name aliens.gov a month after Trump promised to release all files related to UFOs and supposed extraterrestrial sightings.
The website’s recent activity has reignited speculation about alien existence across the internet, as elected officials and military leaders have renewed calls for greater transparency about decades of classified materials related to unexplained flying objects.
On April 1, Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna addressed a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense ordering Pete Hegseth to submit 46 clips of footage no later than April 14, 2026.
Officials believed the videos may show activity near military sites and help determine whether those objects pose a national security risk.
The requested footage includes numerous military-recorded encounters showing spherical, cigar-shaped, and Tic Tac-like objects observed over war zones, oceans, and sensitive airspace worldwide.
In an X update on Tuesday, Luna stated that the Pentagon hadn’t responded to her request until she reached out, adding that it appeared that the letter wasn’t passed on to the “appropriate authorities.”
Former President Barack Obama had caused an uproar in February while appearing as a guest on the No Lie podcast with Brian Tyler Cohen, where he stated that aliens were “real” but added that he hadn’t seen any.
The former president also addressed the persistent conspiracy theory claiming the U.S. government conceals aliens and UFOs at Area 51, the classified United States Air Force facility situated in Nevada’s desert.
“They’re not being kept in Area 51”, he explained. “There’s no underground facility – unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
Within hours after the interview, the former president clarified his statements, explaining that he had reason to believe due to the vastness of the universe, there’s a chance of extraterrestrial life, and reiterated that he “saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really”, he added.
