Alien: Earth on FX has added a new cast member to the ensemble.
The series is created by Noah Hawley and is described as a spin-off to the original Ridley Scott-directed film Alien from 1979. In it’s inaugural season, audiences are taken to the year 2120 — two years before the events of Ridley Scott’s classic 1979 film Alien and about 60 years before the time depicted in James Cameron’s 1986 sequel Aliens. The crew of the USCSS Maginot is working for Weyland-Yutani, the same corporation that ran everything in those earlier films. In this series, Earth is also “governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold.”
It was announced on today that former Game Of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage will be leaving the castles behind and trading in his crown for a space helmet. Dinklage will be joining Sydney Chandler and other Season 1 stars like Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis for season 2.
The show’s renewal, which was announced in November 2025, coincided with Hawley signing an overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment The network has also made a decision to film Season 2 at Pinewood Studios, the same location that hosted the original 1979 Alien film and its sequels, pays homage to the franchise’s roots while offering a fresh take on the iconic setting.
The second season of Alien: Earth is set to premiere in 2026. Season 1 of Alien: Earth which debuted in August of 2025 is streaming right now on Hulu.
