Metro-East Lutheran’s track and field teams turned in a mix of strong individual efforts and relay success at the Comet Relays in Greenville.

The Knights placed fourth in the six-team girls meet with 60 points, finishing behind Wesclin (79), Vandalia (74) and Pana (66). The boys team finished sixth with 31 points in a meet won by Nashville (100), followed by Wesclin (71) and Pana (62).

Metro-East Lutheran’s top performance on the girls side came in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay, where Marion Hemmer, Calista Stults, Abigail Ayer and Lucy Doyle combined for a winning time of 15:36.8.

Kaitlyn Peterson and Anna Mosser delivered a strong showing in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing among the top three with times of 18.2 and 18.3 seconds, respectively. Peterson also added a third-place finish in the high jump at 1.42 meters.

On the boys side, Brice Stewart led the way by winning the long jump with a mark of 6.33 meters.

Collin Kost paced the Knights in the throws, placing second in both the shot put (14.02 meters) and discus (43.96 meters).

Metro-East Lutheran also picked up a runner-up finish in the mixed throwers relay, where Mosser, Tessla McCallister, Shane Stewart and Kost posted a time of 53.6 seconds.
