The 2026 season is here, even though the spring weather is struggling to join us! The Comets are coming off an undefeated championship season. The Comets graduated six key members of that team, but there are still 12 returners who will team up with five new players to make up this year’s squad.

On the mound this year, we have returning senior Megan Gonyeau and junior Marah McGinn, who will be joined by freshman Irie Shedd. This should be an area of strength for the Comets. They will have talented senior Nora Tatro doing the bulk of the catching.

The Comets will have Chatham Brouillette at second and Isabella Stuart at short (currently out with a shoulder injury). The corners will have a couple of seniors with Aubrey Marchessault and McGinn. Sophomore Khloe Carpenter will see time in the infield and outfield as well. The Comets will also have the Dunnigan sisters, Ella and Maggie, at the corners.

The outfield will have many new faces this season. Carpenter, Emma Parah, and senior Jillian Smith will be three key members to man these positions. Also in the outfield mix will be Zoe Montagne Litchfield, Ella O’Grady, Cecilia Smith, Jenessa Yates, and Molly Parah.

The Comets have also added two very eager and dedicated managers, Natalie Matas and Jayda Carter, who will contribute to the team’s spirit.

With the returning talent and the new players, the Comets should once again be competitive. With an outstanding staff of assistants in Kevin McGinn, Ann Sargent, and Meghan Connor, the Comets should be fun to watch as they exhibit their passion for the sport of softball. This is a special group of 19 young ladies who have softball skills, but more importantly, the character that we can all be proud of.
