I wish they showed more of the feed from inside the ship, would be nice to see them rotating shifts. NASA couldve used a night vision camera since the crew turned off the lights

Wonder if that’s a standard iPhone 17 max or if it has an altered case with additional EMF/EMR shielding? Cool to know iPhone are certified by NASA for use in space…

Random fun fact, but I was reviewing the open source Android code a few years ago and the accelerometer is undetermined in space. They actually have code that detects a free fall and/or space scenario and disables the sensor.

That means no image stabilization or other similar features! I’m sure iPhones do a similar thing. I’d be very curious to know what features work/don’t work on this moon mission with a consumer phone.

  4. I just wish we could land on the moon and get proper high-resolution video of people on its surface. It’d look unreal

stupid question, why can’t China and the US build one base and save money? watching the stream and I’m thinking that all this division is an earth disease and we should leave it on earth.

  6. Man, I get excited when my phone geotags the photos from another country. It’s gotta be awesome as hell to have a real photo on your phone that close of another celestial object that you took.

    Bragging rights forever.

  7. Taking your phone to the moon is crazy to me. I mean, of course they have phones and brought them but still.

First Nutella, now iPhone… the product placement on this mission is out of this world.

Isnt it risky to allow phones in a spacecraft? I know there is already a lot of electrical stuf but if a phone starts burning you’re dead. Their Strava must be wild tough.

An iPhone tho, really? The amount of image processing is high unless there’s a master mode they’re using. And it’s sad they aren’t using 75mm Hasselblad equivalents like the first missions.

Are these the new formed craters they’re charged to study? Awesome picture to cherish your whole life btw 👍

Its crazy how many craters there are, considering how big space is. I guess its over billions of years tho.

This mf has reception in space on a space ship. Yet as soon as I step inside my house I lose reception due to my metal roof and surrounding trees.

Sir please put your phone in “space shuttle” mode for the remainder of the trip.

  15. Imagine flying away from the moon and a few minutes after takeoff you’re like “fuck, where’s my pho- ahhh hell, I left it on the rock. Mom’s gonna be furious when I don’t answer.”

Disclaimer: I know they didn’t land on the moon this particular flight, this is just a hypothetical scenario that came to my mind.
