Congressman Eric Burlison, a Republican representative from Missouri, said during a recent podcast appearance that he has viewed classified footage of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), describing objects that he could not explain and defy conventional understanding, per his claims.

His remarks come amid renewed political and public interest in UFOs, as lawmakers seek greater transparency from the federal government on what it knows about such sightings.

Speaking on his “Fresh Freedom” podcast, Burlison said the footage he reviewed shows objects behaving in unusual ways. “I have seen videos of objects. I can’t tell you exactly what they are … neither could the people that filmed them,” he said.

He described the objects as “glowing type orbs” that appear stationary before moving rapidly. “They look like balls of plasma that seem to be stationary and then sometimes they’ll just move at incredible speeds,” Burlison said, adding, “I don’t know what that is, and I don’t think that our intelligence community knows what these things are.”

Burlison said he has been granted access to certain classified locations as part of his inquiry. “I’ve been given access to go visit a site — multiple sites potentially. I’ve already visited one. I plan to visit at least three more,” he said.

He acknowledged the possibility that such visits might be limited in scope. “I might be given the dog and pony show. … But at least I’m able to do my part,” he said, adding that he has also requested formal briefings.

Burlison noted that whistleblowers have increasingly come forward, saying, “We’re getting more and more information. … I think that this is starting to unravel.”

Interest in UAPs and UFOs has increased in recent years, particularly after a 2023 House hearing in which former intelligence officer David Grusch alleged that the government had withheld information about such phenomena.

The issue also gained attention after former President Barack Obama recently said “they’re real” when asked about extraterrestrials, though he later clarified he had not seen evidence of extraterrestrial origins or secret programs at Area 51.

The Trump administration has indicated it is working toward greater disclosure. President Donald Trump has directed officials to begin identifying and releasing government files related to UFOs.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently said the process is underway. “We’ve got our people working on it right now. … We’re digging in. We’re going to be in full compliance with that executive order,” he said, adding that more details would be shared as the review progresses.
