Nov. 2, 1957, Canadian, Texas

Witnesses: Calvin and other military/civilian witnesses

Primary witness, the driver, was U. S. Civil Service employee from Vance AFB, Oklahoma. The military witness was a Sgt. from the 386th Fighter Bommer Squadron, Cannon AFB, New Mexico.

The driver rounded a curve and went over a slight knoll in the road when his headlights  (no other car there that I can see) lighted a submarine shaped red and white object settling in a field just off the road.

Almost immediately a flash of light lit up the car and his headlights went out and he drove about a hundred feet past the object before he stopped the car. He then started to put his car in reverse and changed his mind and the headlights came back on. He then drove forward while the object remained in the same spot he had first seen it.

Project Record Card says "appeared to be a white flag extending from the top of the object, or being held by a figure standing near the object." Submarine shape included the coning tower positioned midway along the length of the object.

Total time observed: 3 mins.

Jacques Vallée also reports this incident in Passport to Magonia:

    >**Page** **267** — Canadian (Texas). 5 km west of this town, military and civilian witnesses reported a submarine-shaped object, red and white, two or three times as long as a car and about 3 m high, at ground level. A figure was seen near this object, also something compared to a white flag. When a car stopped in the vicinity, a flash of light from the object coincided with the sudden failure of the headlights.
