TEUTOPOLIS – Despite falling in their first game of the season, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes bounced back in a big way, as the varsity squad shut out Greenville on Tuesday to earn their third straight spring win, 8-0.

Shoes’ pitcher Austin Borries secured the win for Teutopolis on the day, as the senior threw for five innings, notching 10 strikeouts, three walks, and allowing one hit. Junior Hayden Tebbe finished the game on the mound for the Shoes, allowing no hits, and securing two strikeouts, with two walks.

Leading Teutopolis in the batters box throughout the game was catcher Jason Kreke, as the senior went 3-for-3 in his at bats, with a double, single, and a free trip to first after being hit by a pitch.

Junior second baseman Teagan Pals, and junior shortstop Andrew Lustig also earned hits throughout the game, as the duo combined for two singles.

Walks were a big factor of the game for Greenville, as the Comets allowed nine trips to first to six different Teutopolis players. Shoes’ third baseman Gavin Addis was walked three times, however the senior used his speed to his advantage, as he crossed home plate twice throughout the game.

The Shoes improved to 3-1 following their win, however they were quickly back in action, as the squad returned home to host Casey-Westfield on Thursday, and Fairfield on Friday. Following this the team will have a short break, before returning home on Monday to host the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs.

Gametime is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
